CR-60 - Super Bond Repair Cement
SURFACE PREPARATION
Step One
- A) Remove all dirt, grease, oil and surface coatings from the surfaces that will come in contact with the repair material. All loose concrete must be removed until firm substrate is exposed. Where possible all surfaces to be repaired should be in a saturated surface dry (SSD) condition with no standing water on the surface. (Soak surface with clean water for 5 minutes minimum.)
- B) USE OF A SCRUB COAT IS REQUIRED
(SCRUB COAT: Mix 2 parts CR-60, 1 Part Liquid Activator)
The scrub coat or bonding agent should be thoroughly brushed onto the surface which will come in contact with the material. It is highly recommended that all surfaces be treated with Super-Seal to stop all potential efflorescence or saponification action under CR-60 application.
MIXING PROCEDURE Step Two
- C) Mix only as much as can be easily placed within 15 to 20 minutes. CR-60 sets initially in approximately 60 minutes.
For mixing, a low RPM drill with a mud paddle is recommended. Normally, use mixing water at the rate of:
4 parts CR-60 to 1 part water.
Use less water for a stiffer mix.
Always add CR-60 to the water thoroughly mixing to a putty-like consistency for at least 2-3 minutes.
APPLICATION Step Three
- D) Pack the material firmly into the previously prepared area, ensuring intimate contact with the bonding surface. Use slightly more material than is needed and rough shape during placement.
- E) After the initial set, when CR-60 is surface firm, shave the material to the desired final shape using a steel trowel.
Maximum depth of repair motar is 2 inches for each lift. Additional lifts can be placed after the original lift has achieved its (approximately 90 minutes). The original lift should be left with a rough surface to improve bond between lifts. (Maximum of 3 2" lifts per day.) The less CR-60 is handled or worked the better. Do not add water or re-temper. Never leave excess material lapping over edges of repair. Finished patch should be smooth and level with the surrounding concrete.
- F) After leveling, CR-60 can be rubbed with a wet sponge and textured, if desired. Adequate curing protection is important, specifically during windy, hot and dry conditions. A wet burlap cure blanket or water base curing compound is recommended.
LIMITATIONS
- Do not use for resurfacing or topping large floor areas.
- Do not attempt to re-temper CR-60 material after initial mixing.
- Do not add other cements or additives to this product.
- Keep in mind that CR-60 is a fast setting product, and mixing equipment should be cleaned with water at the earliest time. Cold weather will slow down the set time of CR-60 and hot weather will accelerate it.
- The minimum application temperature is 40F.
- Do not allow freshly placed areas to freeze.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Your skin is sensitive to cement. Wearing rubber gloves in recommended.
- Avoid contact with eyes or prolonged contact with skin. If eye or skin contact occurs, flush immediately with water.
- Harmful if ingested.
- Keep product out of reach of children.
