EPO-TOXY
#960 UNDERLAYMENT
AND SUB-FLOOR REPAIR
#960 is a new concept for repairing lightweight concrete and other materials used in the maintenance and construction of sub-floors.
The Product Data Sheet outlines the Typical Data for this product. The Installation information provides detail instructions for installation of #960. It is not necessary to remove and replace existing cracked sub-floors. An overlay with #960 will make the sub-floor much stronger than the original installation. Please note the unique method employed in repairing existing cracks in the sub-floors.
For those areas where the plywood joint is moving, thus making the floor squeak, also breaking up the lightweight material please note in paragraph three of the installation information our tried and tested method for making these repairs.
#960 when cured, tests 7800 psi. which is over twice the strength of concrete. It is self leveling and does not require the labor intensive trowelling to install.
The yield is up to 125 SF per gallon when mixed with sand and used for underlayment. The yield for repairing the voids as outlined in par. #3 of the installation information is .75 cubic ft per gallon when mixed with #4 sand.
Power mixers are a lot more efficient and labor saving than an electric drill and mixer.
SURFACE PREPARATION Step One
- A) Vacuum the area to be repaired with a wet dry shop vac.
- B) Remove all pulverized material.
- C)Clean up all areas where pulverized material has been removed.
PRE-TREATMENT Step Two
- A) Spray SUPER~SEAL on sub-floor.
PRODUCT PREPARATION Step Three
- A) Remove lids from #960 epoxy material and stir with mixer and electric drill or power mixer.
Note: This is only necessary once a day before starting repairs.
- B) Pour a gallon of xylene in a five gallon pail to be used for tool clean up. (Pour back into original container for reuse after repair job is finished.)
RE-ENFORCEMENT AND/OR LEVELING FLOORS Step Four
FOR RE-ENFORCEMENT:
- A) In the areas where the pulverized material has been removed or there is a weak joint in the plywood subfloor, mix two parts of #960 "A" and one part of #960 "B", pour a light coat of mixed #960 over the weak plywood areas. Lay a strip of sheet metal approximately 3" wide over the plywood joint.
- B) Pour into a mixing container, two parts #960 "A" and one part of #960 "B", continue mixing adding #4 sand blasting sand at a ratio of 4 to 1.
EXAMPLE: Two quarts "A" one quart "B" three gallons #4 sand.
- C) Pour slurry in voids, level off with hand trowel.
FOR LEVELING FLOORS:
- A) Pour into a mixing container, two parts #960 "A" and one part of #960 "B". Mix with sand at a ratio of 5 to 1.
EXAMPLE: Two quarts "A" one quart "B" 3 ¾ gallons #4 sand.
- B) Pour slurry in voids, level off with hand trowel.
FILL CRACKS Step Five
- A) Pour number 4 or number 60 sand into all cracks in subfloor.
- B) Level off sand to floor surface with a flat squeege.
Note: It is important to fill cracks with #4 sand blasting sand or #60 commercial grade sand so that the sand will fill the crack all the way to the bottom. This sand is sometimes referred to as sugar sand Tec Minerals grade #5 Sieve size 60 or Tec Minerals grade #4 Sieve size # 30.
APPLICATION
Step Six
- A) Pour measured two parts #960 "A" and one part #960 B" into mixing container. Stir throughly with paddle type mixer and electric drill. Continue mixing and add # 4 or # 60 sand at a ratio of 2 to 1.
EXAMPLE: One (1) gallon of measured #960 "A" one half (½) gallon of #960 "B", add three (3) gallons of #4 or #60 sand.
- B) Pour slurry on entire floor and spread with a 1/4" notched squeegee.
Note: The #4 or 60 size sand will make a smooth finish. The slurry is self leveling so no troweling is necessary. May need to be smoothed with a hand trowel in some areas.
Let set for 4 to 5 hours. At 75°F. This will allow #960 to set and carpet can be laid. #960 will cure to its maximum hardness in 48 hrs at 75°F.
